What is normal for adjustment period for new dosage?

Hi everyone. I am on my fourth week of my increased dosage of synthroid and am feeling really fatigued and achy, but not as bad as I was before I started my beginning (tiny) dosage back in Nov. I was not extremely hypo when I started, but was having lots of symptoms. Some are gone now, but the tiredness is killing me, since I start my new university teaching job tomorrow night! Is this normal? I know it can take 6-8 weeks for the hormone to reach and get used by all my tissues, and I have heard some of you talk about the rollercoaster of med adjustments, but I am not sure what is normal. Any thoughts?

I'm 9 weeks post TT and I've just started my new dosage. I wanted to make sure I stayed on the first dose for at least 8 weeks so that I knew exactly how I felt and so I could go through 2 menstrual cycles (I always feel worse during certain times of the month!). I think the usual is around 6-8 wks for you to get the full benefit of a dosage change.

Good luck

Rach xxxx

So, did you feel a bit better after the first 8 weeks but still need more? Or was there no change in your symptoms? I am curious if I will need another increase after this one. I really thought I would see some results by now so it is nice to see that I can be hopeful for another 2-4 weeks. :)

No mine was post TT so its a bit different to just going on meds in the normal way. A TT makes you very emotional anyway so its very difficult to judge initially what dosage you need to be on - plus it can take 4-5 wks for you natural hormone to leave the body.
