Sue, I saw your response regarding ordering your own labs. I have done this also. I was intrigued that you said your ordered "other" tests too....have you ever ordered imaging studies? I would like to get a thyroid ultrasound, as recommended by my GYN, but at this point don't want the hassle of finding a new endo..bah, I have had it with them! I am in Houston, I believe you may be too? Any input would be appreciated. I had my last labs drawn through Concerta, for some reason couldn't have this tests drawn at Labcorp or Quest, not sure why.
No, actually all I order is labwork. I just meant that I order labwork for cortisol levels, ferritin levels, etc., not just thyroid levels. I WISH I could order ultrasounds, etc.! I live in Louisiana, but I do drive to Houston(200 miles) one way for doctor visits. I'm such a complicated case. I read about others who can't get an increase in dose, or can't get T3 or Armour. I've seen MANY a doctor who was willing to give any of those, with in-range labs too, but I can't tolerate any of it. I don't know why we have all those docs in this area! But, I have to admit, 2/3 of them were "natural"-type M.D.s. I've found them while looking for "holistic" physicians.
Sue, thanks for your response. Geez Louise, sorry you have to drive 200 miles each way to our city! Do you by some chance see THE Dr. A? Hope its worth it for all that travel. I saw an endo in the facility where I work recommended by one of our physicians. I will refer to him as "Dr. Bombay", complete waste of time. This is why I will do my own leg work for now.
Hope you at least get some good shopping done while your are here!
Sparkie-I did see Dr. A at one time a few years ago, got a good run of labs with him, and a diagnosis of Hashi. But, it was too expensive to keep seeing him since I was at a stand-still with treatment(not tolerating meds). I think Shmily(another Houstonite) is seeing him, and working on her treatment. I saw Dr. Petak a couple of weeks ago, and had my ton of labwork and my Vitamin D deficiency diagnosed. I am working on getting that corrected right now.
