"There is no cure for Gravesí disease "

I've been surfing on different websites with information about Graves disease and in many of them it says that there is no cure for graves disease, is it true? are we a lost case? it says that there are ways to reduce symtpoms and such but no way to cure it... sorry for the ignorance, but im kind of new with this.
Thanks.

As far as I understand, Grave's disease and Hashimoto's are autoimmune disorders - which are not "curable". But Grave's can go into a remission. It's something that can be controlled. Don't worry that you have a disorder that may not go away! It's ok. Most of us here do too. I have asthma that will never go away, heck I have nearsightedness that won't either. It's all ok.
Good luck!

Thyroid for Dummies, written by Dr. Rubin, states that 25% of people with Hashimoto's experience a remission and no longer need thyroid medication. Maybe it's the same for Graves.

Don't give in! Never underestimate the power of positive thinking and alternative remedies to help fight a disease or condition. I'm not saying you can wish nearsightedness away or something silly like that, but maybe we can stay healthier with a positive outlook and continually trying new treatments.

Years ago I also had Graves. I went into remission, no longer needed medication. I was fine for alot of years and now I was just disagnosed with Hashimotos. Take care.

Nope - no way to "cure" Graves disease. Sorry. It can be controlled with medicines - if you find a really good doctor to give you the meds you need. You can have the surgery - don't do the RAI - not an option for people with Graves - but then you are on meds the rest of your life anyway.

Fight to keep your thyroid. Graves comes and goes - into and out of remission - so try to hang in there. I know it is no fun. I unfortunately found the worst endo in the world and he messed me up so bad - I had to have my thyroid removed and now will be on meds the rest of my life.

Not to mention - even though I have my thyroid removed. The antibodies will always be floating around in my system - so I will always still have Graves with the chance of getting the opthamology part.

Just the way it is. Hope all goes well. Learn all you can - fight to keep the thyroid though.
