Need help interpreting ultrasound results
I was wondering if anyone could help me interpret the results of my thyroid ultrasound. I'm one of those people who has not been able to get adequate treatment for hypothyroidism despite an abnormal TSH (2.9) and lots of symptoms.
The ultrasound results say:
normal sized gland
increased blood flow to thyroid gland which may reflect thyroiditis
left lobe normal
on the right, there is ****geneity in echotexture in one hypoechoic area
which is uniformly hypoechoic measuring 6 mm. This has irregular margins
and does not contain calcification and could reflect focal thyroiditis
fine needle aspiration biopsy or follow up sonography is recommended in 6
Six months! I am so tired of waiting on this (I've been struggling with this since 2006). I feel horrible and I need help now! I have tested negative for antibodies, which is one reason I have not been able to get adequate treatment (I'm currently on a super low dose of sythroid--12.5 mcg per day). I am so frustrated and am hoping that this scan will give me the ammunition to get the treatment I need. Because I have other health conditions I am locked into my current doctors.
Has anyone seen results like this before? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
