I had thyroid surgery and still don't have my voice back.

I'm so glad I found this site. I had thyroid surgery on 2/27/08 and still don't have my voice back. I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow to see what to do next. The only problem is that my health ins runs out the end of this month. Just left portion of thyroid was removed for benign nodules.

I don't have any advice for you except to let you know there are a couple of people here who have experienced the same thing. I think, with time, their voices slowly came back. I'm sure they'll chime in here in a day or two and offer some support/their story.

Re: I had thyroid surgery and still don't have my voice back.

Yes, please search old posts about this, for most, the voice comes back, but it sometimes takes a long time. My friend lost her voice after her second surgery for the other side, and she's a speaker by profession. She was told one of her vocal chords was "paralyzed" but a few months later, her voice came back on its own. There was also someone on here that did injections to get the voice back---don't fear, these seem to take a while, but seem to have a happy eneding.
