i don't want to go back to endo, he was a ****. wouldnt even look at me talked to hubby whole time...i was wondering if i could request my labs to be sent to my md??? she referred him to me and said she will never refer him to anyone again...he told me to go off meds cause t4 was norm....but tsh was 8.8....md said t4 norm cause on t4 meds....some symptoms r coming back and need meds adjusted...just need labs from endo
I don't blame you for not going back. But you haven't said what kind of advice is it you need.
If you have uncomplicated, primary hypoT, you don't need an endo at all. I will frankly tell you that they are the pits when it comes to diagnosing and treating the disorder. By "uncomplicated" hypoT, I mean blood low levels of thyroid hormones without nodules or obstructive goiter. Odds are better that a general practice MD or DO who has lots of experience with thyroid treatment would be of more help.
Dito on the endo treating your thyroid. I use an integrative medicine, thyroid savvy Internal Medicine MD. She works with me. It is a partnership given my Hashimoto's, secondary hypoT, and primary adrenal insufficiency.
Dr. Natalie Johnson, Chattanooga, TN if you are interested in the commute. My local MDs have no faith in the Endos in this area to treat me.. one may work.. but then again I am not your standard case. My MD family and friends are looking into the best and it is looking like a commute to Emory in Georgia or Birmingham Alabama for an Endo that might be worht the consult. I will let you know the names my Neuro Ph.D/MD digs up.
The Endo can not refuse to give you a copy of your records. Nor can they refuse your GP is she requests a copy for your file. A refusal would be against your patient care rights.

I agree with all the above. What a jerk. I am constantly amazed at how bad some of these doctors are!
I would definately call and request copies of all your labs from this doctor and also request the progress notes. Those are what the doctor wrote about you in your chart. By law now they have to give you copies of any medical records that you request.

thanks guys....i requested a report to go to md they said they will put on my chart and she will get copy...i will post my labs when i get them maybe u can help me figure them out. i am new at this....my tsh was 8.8 no goiters or anything..was just put on paxil to so trying to adjust...i have gi appt in chattanooga for problems with the diarehha and weight loss....ugh.....this endo was hixson tn...never again...hope all iswell with you.....
I warned you about the Endos around here. Not a one has been recommeded as good for thyroids. I have the best diabetes endo on hold.. but I do not need diabetic treatment! Dr. Yates is one of the best GI guys around. He has really done well by my husband. Not sure his take on thyroids. Try Dr. Natalie Johnson before you go off to another Endo. So far she has helped all other thyroid patients I personally recommended.
As to other MDs.. Dr. Hollie is a great asthma/immunology MD. He will send you to Emory in Georgia for thyroid treatment. My Cardio send his patients to Vanderbilt or Birmingham for thyroid Endo care. Dr. Vernon is a great sleep specialist/IM/Pulmonologist. Top notch and works with pediatrics as well as adults.
Now the ENT you want.. Dr. Christopher St. Charles. He is my gem. Cream of the crop for surgery. Okay.. now I have you fixed with my top pickings. Some have offices in Hixson as well as Chattanooga. St. Charles and Hollie in particular have Hixson and Cleveland days.
