I just recvd a call from my Doctors nurse that they want to schedule me for another test that is 2 days in length. I am a mess today, but I did catch that she said that would scan my thyroid. Now, the last time I had an uptake scan (less than a year ago) it was a one day process. Is this something different? She also said they would be drawing more labs when I came for this test.
Does anyone know what this is? Thanks
This sounds like a thyroid uptake and scan test.
In this they give you a pill (or a shot) of radioactive material on the first day and send you home and the next day they take measurements on how much of this radioactive stuff is left concluding how much may have been utilised by the thyroid (taking into account the half life of the stuff) etc
I called the hospital where I had the RAU on August 1st last year and they faxed the results to this hospital yesterday. I don't see the point in having it again 8 months later!
Good call. If you have already had one at another hospital with in the last year.. why repeat. Ugh! You think that the hospitals would be better about getting your records together in one place. *snort*
