Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

Had my first appointment with a new endo today, and was really looking forward to it.
It started off with the usual.......

"Your labs are in the normal range......... (yes but about as low as they could be on the normal scale)
Your TSH is great ( yes but its suppressed from the dessicated thyroid tabs)
Youre perfectly healthy.............(apart from all the symptoms)

You still have symptoms........oh really........well they are not thyroid related....."

Then, she said, and this is the clincher........

"is your marriage happy?" I said of course
"youre not a happy looking person......." I said oh arent I? (i thought i was looking good today!!)
"Try going for walks in the country side and exploring the country......"
"Try to think that your symptoms arent there and maybe you will be happier"

That was it end of appointement. WHERE DID THEY GET THEIR MEDICAL DEGREES?????
The search for another new endo is on..................

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

I think she is on happy pills. Definitely a dud. Well I gave up on Endos local. I am looking farther a field. In the mean time I am glad I got a good thyroid savvy IM letting me do a good deal of my own treatment driving. Maybe you should look to a good thyroid savvy Internist. Mine works in integrative medicine, but she is an MD and is not afriad to test and seach for the source of the issue.

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

what is up with all thes endos. It is so frustrating that when they say "your symptoms aren't from your thyroid" Mine is the same way then they send you to a rheumy, then a neurologist,in my case also an opthmologist.. WHo's next in line to try to dx me?? I just had a lip biopsy done yesterday and in 2 weeks I go for an emg/nerve study. I feel all this is for absolutely nothing ,if they could just address the thyroid and get it to regulate .. No wonder depression is a symptom of thyroid dissorders, you do end up being depressed from all the frustration that you have to go through just trying to get normalized. kathy

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

Well my Endo did that tack.

I was off to see the wiz.. I mean neurologist, neuro-opthamologist, electrophysiology cardiologist, allergy immunologist, dermatologist, ortopedic specialist, GI MD, sleep specialist, ENT.. well after making my insurance companie spocket book hurt and months and months of testing the other experts came to one conclusion.. AUTONOMIC/AUTOIMMUNE attack on blank. Only AI present with antibodies to spare.. Hashimoto's. My cardiologist called to ask my endo to treat me because my heart was under serious attack strain... he got blown off. My TSH of 2.077 was normal. My Fts were normal.. 5 and 30% in range. It is not her thyroid. You are mistaken. Yeah it is one thing when they do it to us.. we do not have MDs.. it is another when they do it to their own.

I do not know what is up with them.. but they may or may not have answers I deem worthy.

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

Oh myyyy.... That was extremley rude of her to ask such a question... I would of told her it was NONE of her business! Point blank.

Maybe she is the one that needs the long walks in the country side? She sounds like she needs something. And how does one not look like a happy person anyways? Sheesh.... I could see if someone was walking around with their lip dragging on the floor. ANd has she ever considered that you might not look like you are happy because you don't FEEL GOOD?? Gawddd these dr's frustrate me. LOL.

I always tell them well I would get out and walk more and excercise more if I could just get the energy to stand up long enough to do the excercise. Idiots.

You just have to demand the proper care. Or tell them what YOU want!

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

brisson1,
I am so glad you posted this thread. I too, had a bad experience with endo... normal range thyroid, low PTH, with many other symptoms which have ruined my life these past 16 months after thyroid lobectomy. My endo wrote zoloft on a piece of paper and told me to try it. I responded so I guess the 40lb weight loss, multiple vitamin deficiences, development of unexplained cardiac arrythmia ( which cardiologist says is thryoid issued), as well as low PTH is nothing.... and he said yep, not a endocrine problem.... he said get another cardiologist and gastro guy opinion( love them both /gave me complete workup - all negative)- Well I am scheduled to see another endo... it takes a month to get in . And yes, I only laughed when he asked if I was depressed, and said who wouldn't be -after 16 months of frustration.
Oh, if anyone knows a good endo Dr. in San Antonio or nearby please let me know... you would be the answer to my prayer. Good luck to you brisson1 and please let us know how you make out... we do care here!!!

Re: Now Ive heard it all........!!!!

WOW don't suppose you were in Punxy PA? Sounds exactly like the guy that I tried to switch to!! He told me that there is no such thing as Hypo thyroid. I asked him how he explains that I feel better on Synthroid. He said maybe I needed to seek counseling! Holy cow. He also said that he is tired of these women who come in hoping to get skinny pills! I told him getting skinny was the least of my worries, and I am hardly fat! what jerks
