Re: Looking for a Thyroid/Adrenal Doc in SC

I am not sure of the geography, but my nuerologist MD/Ph.D friend did some digging for me. The MD he liked best came off of the same sight I got the only three MDs recommended in SC for Adrenals/Cushings/Addisons. You might want to look them up, call and feel them out.

South Carolina
Greenville - Dr. Stanley Van Hofe - He came highly referred to by Dr. Mary Vance of UVA and MUSC
Charleston - The Medical University of South Carolina - Charleston, SC
Neurology / Neurosurgeon - Dr. Sunil Patel
General Surgeon / Surgical Oncology (Adrenal Surgery) - Dr. William Gillanders

It is amazing that there were only 3 hits. Alabama had 1.. Tennessee.. well that was a big 0! Are any close.. they may be able to point you to another MD closer.

Sorry I couldn't personally recommend anyone.

Re: Looking for a Thyroid/Adrenal Doc in SC

I called the first Doc, and he's out recovering from an operation.

His Nurse said she didn't know of anyone in my neck of the woods, but said I could have my GP make a referral to be seen there.

Is he highly recommended enough to take a half-day vacation time to travel over and see him? Is he good with using Saliva testing, or is he blood only?

Do you have any other info about him?

I do not know. Does the Endo's practice have a site to visit? Those are questions that the nurse could answer for you. I will dig deeper into the name for you though.
