Angry Just got home from the Endocrinologist..........

And I'm confused.

He was great, wonderful even, but..........

He says that my thyroid doesn't feel enlarged to him. Does that mean that there can't be something wrong with it? He did order tons of blood work, which I'll get done ASAP. He said that it takes about a week to get it all back and that he'll let me know.

He then recommended I go to see a Rhuematologist, Infectious Disease doctor and a Gastro doc. Okay, yeah, I'll add that to the Neurologists I've seen (three) and the Cardiologist, the Pulmonologist, Speech Pathologist, Otolaryngologist and Internal Medicine doc.

I'm not trying to be mean or even upset, really. He was a very good doctor (of course, his nurse told me that my insurance will not longer see them as "in network" as of May 1st. Yep, two days from now....I can't see him anymore!!!). It's just that I'm so tired of being sent back and forth between doctors. I get discouraged and then I quit going for a while and then I just can't stand the issues and start back up. It seems that the amount of time that it takes me to get discouraged keeps on getting to be less and less. Like, really, I'm already feeling discouraged and I've only been to see one doctot!! LOL

Anyway, my main question is this...Can something still be wrong with my Throid even if it's 'normal' size? And..........has anyone had any success with being DX with multiple conditions? I mean, why does everything have to be 'covered' by ONE disease. I mean, really?? Can't I have like two or three things going on??

Re: Just got home from the Endocrinologist..........

I have autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type II. So that means I have Hashimoto's, adrenal insufficiency, secondary hypothyroidism, and more. Is that want you wanted to hear?

Check out this post on the thyroid basics:

It may just help you.

As to normal size, well with out a US palpatation only gives a qualitative measurement. You could still have an issue that palpatation wouldn't pick up.

Thumbs up Re: Just got home from the Endocrinologist..........

Actually, YES, that is what I wanted to hear. It's funny that you should mention that condition, specifically by name. On another forum board that I'm on, another lady mentioned it to me. When I went to book mark her link to the E-medicine's description of it, I found that I had already book marked that page myself, on my many internet searches! Werid, how it keeps on coming up.

So, how does one go about getting that diagnosed? I mean, how many different doctors have to actually work together to figure something like THAT out? That's what I'm finding so hard......I think that this type of a disorder is what I've got. It's not all nice and neat and fits into a little box and all, but, it exists, nonetheless. I'm just so tired of doctors that are trying to fit me into one litlte "specialists' box. I'M NOT GONNA FIT, I'M SORRY!!

The problem with the PAS, is that I show signs of Cushing's not Addison's. My Adrenals are in overdrive and I gain weight like crazy, etc. Is even possible to have PAS with Cushing's and not Addisons?

I don't want to start all over again, but, geez, Louise, I'm tired of feeling like crap already.....................

PS- I also have MRI results that lean towards MS, but, I only have 7 brain lesions and you need 9 to be 'officially' DX with MS. But, regardless, I clearly have a demyelination process. It was stated on my MRI that I have Acute Dissemenated Encephalomyelitis (spelling could be wrong...) yet, no doctor had mentioned it to me. I only found it out by getting the copy of the report, myself!! I've yet to find a doctor that even knows what it is, no less how to treat it!

Re: Just got home from the Endocrinologist..........

Yeah, I agree.....why didn't anyone say anything? It feels like no one cares, really.

I've read the part that you posted several different places but have never seen the part about it being in the MS family, etc.

I did have a horrible illness as a child. Quite acute, very painful. High fever, delerium, etc. I was with my bilogical father's parents at the time. (My parents were divorced when I was 3) They lived in a very small town in Texas and they called a doctor, whom did a 'house call'. I can remember him saying that he was afraid that I might not make it through the night. It was horrible. One of my earliest memories, really.

I still have the one sided paralysis and the seizures and the vision trouble, and, and, and..............I wonder how I would get a doctor to take me seriously when it's a condition I've had my whole life. Quite honestly, I've been 'different' and ill for as long as I can remember!! How sad is that???

Thank you for your work and help...........

Bec
