Hi - Still no quick reply button - oh, well I guess the quote doesn't matter as long as I can still correspond on the board.

Did you start your new combination of meds today? Exactly what are you taking again? Just refresh my memory....sure hope it works.

Hi,

Ok - I just wanted to refresh myself on what you are taking now. I walk around just like a zombie - no strength, no nothing!!!! Like the walking dead.
My feet don't hurt, but my stomach and abdomen and back burn and ache - and I never had that stuff before Synthroid. Yes, I can hardly get out of bed in the morning after sleeping all night. Waiting is the torture of this disease - once you see the doctor you have to wait and if you don't feel good - oh, well...........

I hope the T3 kicks in - let me know. I always feel a little better toward evening - we talked about it before. But today - not so good.

Later,
Liz

Re: Changed To Synthroid

you got the burning muscles in your back, neck, shoulders I get that when I am hypo I do have some burning leg muscles and also weakness in the arms and legs.
I haven't done much today I feel so guilty just sitting around the house.
If I wouldn't have my work I would go crazy, I can't wait until my husbands comes home tomorrow.
You know this sounds crazy and I won't do anything like this but when I came back from the grocery store I set in my car in the garage and I thought about when people end their lifes by inhaling fumes from the car. Gosh isn't this awful to even think about this.
went back in the house and hugged my doggies and said to myself DON'T GIVE UP.
you will be fine again.

I guess not having enough hormones can mess you up pretty bad.
still tired but hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Hi Pia,

First of all I still don't have the quick reply box - oh, well doesn't matter.
Back to our problem. Yes, tonight I have burning in my stomach and around the back of my waist and abdomen and I did have it that one time in my legs - it all has to be from this because I never had that before in my life. I think we are both suffering from depression - no doubt - to have thoughts as you mentioned - I can't say I haven't had similar over the past time and being alone a lot doesn't help because your mind goes to places it shouldn't. Good you have your doggies because they are so wonderful and provide unconditional love. But I know how you feel. A friend of mine said I should tell the doctor and perhaps he could prescribe something mild for depression. Only thing is - hey - I can't take another drug now with its side effects or God knows what that would bring. I took anti-depressants once as a preventative for migraines and I had nightmares and all kinds or problems. So, I don't want to ask for any more drugs for sure.

Again, I feel a tiny bit better at night - not good - but better. I am going to start splitting the Synthroid again tomorrow and keep that up for the next days to see if it really helps or it is my imagination. I never tried it for more than a day because I would see the other half of the pill there and say - heck, I may as well take it. I also took the selenium and zinc at noon and dinner. I will try anything at this point.

Let's hope for a better day tomorrow....oh, my please, God.

Goodnight,
Liz

Hi Pia,

No change at all - I took half of the Synthriod and will take the rest later. I have been trying to do a few things around here - like clean up the plants in the window, write bills, etc. If I walk around much, I have to lie down - it is the pits. And walking around I feel really yucky.

On a better note - I will try to condense this. I used to go to a pain clinc for my migraines and it really helped me - they worked on myofascial pain - muscles and trigger points and it was about the only thing that worked at all. Anyway the main woman who runs the clinic is a bike rider and was in an accident a few years ago and not able to do this work any more. A tragedy for her and her patients, like me - not to have any relief. There are a couple of others who work for her, but she was the only one who helped me.

I believe God works in mysterious ways - she called me this morning to see how I was doing. I went into my tale of woe and she told me she had something similar after her accident and was going to an endo plus this woman MD who sounds like the hormone doctor you mentioned - who works on all of that thing - hormones, pitituary, etc.... said that doctor did blood work and she is on a hormone cream that she just rubs into her arms or something and she is like new. Is was on Synthroid, but is on Armour now and doing great. She sent a couple of others to this woman and they said she saved their lives more or less. She wanted to know if I wanted her to call and get me an appointment - but I begged off for now. It is a lot to digest. I said I just started with the endo and he didn't prescribe Armour. She said it was her hormones that caused her to have heart racing and she had all those heart tests I had and the same thing. She said she would sleep for hours and hours and have to take a nap. Now she is doing wonderful and so are the others she sent there. I don't know - I am starting with this endo - but I don't think this Synthroid is helping yet AT ALL. I guess I should wait for my next visit and see what happens. This woman doctor does prescribe Armour. It is hard because starting to mess around with changing drugs - but hey -I feel like crap. Anyway, she also told me that she was back to working a few hours every day and would definitely be able to work on me for headaches - and that was a gift from God all by itself as my headaches have been worse and worse.

So, I had a good morning - although I feel bad. I cried through most of the call to her - she is a wonderful woman and I believe called just at the right moment.....a gift from above.

Later,
Liz

I woke up hoping to go get my hair done - as I learned my hairdresser is having knee surgery next Thursday and won't be back for a while - my hair needs everything. But haven't really got myself "up" to go out - then I got her call - so it is a good day just because of that.

Re: Changed To Synthroid

Liz,
This is what I would do.
Find out how long it takes to get in with the new doctor.
If it takes 2 or 3 weeks make an appointment you can always cancel it.
Go to your endo and see what he says , I don't think you will be fine without adding T3.
remember a second opinion won't hurt. Make sure you get all your copys of your labs.
The good thing is if you decide to go to the new doctor you have all the blood work already done.
I already called the lady hormone specialist and I can get in within a week so if I don't feel better over the next 2 weeks I will go, I do have all my labs and that makes it alot easier.
You will be fine soon, Hang in there

Hi Pia,

Good advice. The lady that called me from the pain clinic said she would call to see about getting me an appointment if I wanted since she is a "kinda doctor/therapist". I asked her if it took long to get appointments with this woman and she said "not too long" - but I don't know what that meant as I couldn't stop crying. It was so weird - but she said "I know just what you are going through". Yes, I should get all my blood work done at the endo - but I am not sure if this woman checks different hormones or what - but doesn't matter. Good advice......I want to talk to my husband when he gets home too. He is golfing.

I guess you will have to wait a little while to see about the T3 kicking in - since it is supposed to be fast.....I hope it works. At least I feel like there is another option - I thought the endo was my option - but we will see what happens with adding T3...or whatever.

Liz

Re: Changed To Synthroid

Liz,

wait and see what the endo has to say again have them do all your labs and make sure you request the FT3 and FT4 they are the most important tests you need to have.
He might be open to adding a little T3 if you need it, so you need to give him a chance.
You can always go to the other doctor if things don't work out.
Either way there is no quick fix it will take some time and in 2 weeks you get your new labs and it will show what is going on with your thyroid.
At least now you know you have another option and that is very good to know.

take care

Pia,

I totally agree with you. I have to at least see what happens with my next bloodwork and doctor's appointment. He does seem open to trying things since he was willing to up my dosage to .88 just by my phone call and also OK'd me taking the vitamins - selenium and zinc. I will call a couple days before my labs and ask that woman that I talk to and seems knowledgeable about the FT3 and FT4 blood tests - and she will talk to him so that when I go they will order that. At least we both have some kind of plan. You are trying new meds and have a plan and I have something in my mind. One real blessing is that the lady at the pain clinic can work on my headaches again and I won't have to sit for 4 days with a headache next time hopefully. That in itself is heavenly. It was always so sad for me to know that she could no longer help me. She has been blessed as the accident was really bad and she went through hell.

Liz

Re: Changed To Synthroid

Hi Liz,

Well I don't want to say it but I do feel a little better today I do have more energy I am cleaning my house.
I will stick with this combo for at least 6 weeks so I know for sure if it works. I don't want to keep changing meds all the time.
I hope you are feeling a little bit better , I am happy you found your pain lady again and she can help you with your awful headaches.
I just read on another board that headaches can come from thyroid problems so maybe when you find the right meds your headaches will never come back.

take care
