Hi, Just wondering if anyone has experienced twitches in their hand or knows if this is a common symptom with hypo. A few months ago I had twitches in the area of my thumb/pointer finger(where they join together) for
three weeks straight, I told my doc. and she didn't seem real concerned. I had
all the other typical hypo. symptoms going on too. Last night I couldn't sleep, and got the twitching back (it went on all night) I also had bad stomach acid.
After I did finally fall asleep, I woke up feeling really crappy. Headache, swollen face, eyes etc...that I get with water retention, and my back was killing me. The twitches were gone, but I feel really tired(Like I always do)
Another day just trying to survive and wondering how I'm going to get through the day and my cleaning job this evening. Please, if anyone else has the twitching let me know. Thank you for those who responded to my last posts. I feel so much better knowing that others are struggling with the same problems, and that I'm not just crazy. Sometimes doctors and other people just don't understand. This site has really helped me.
muscle twitching was definitely a symptom of mine. i have hashi's.
at some point it went away, i'm assuming due to reaching a sufficient level of replacement thyroid hormones, but i'm not sure. my magnesium levels were low - a lot of general bloodwork levels were way off. since the thyroid controls metabolism, if its not working properly, it could theoretically throw off magnesium (along with oodles of other stuff) which might have caused my twitching, and might be causing yours. i never stuck to magnesium replacement because the supplement gives me diarrhea.
maybe get your magnesium blood level checked?
i've had terrible times with endo's about symptoms and blood levels. i don't understand why so many of them seem to be very disinterested with our variety of ailments. it seems to be a common thread here.
I have hashi's as well and I get eye twitching. The wierd thing about it is that it seems to act up when my stomach acts up (gas, indigestion and bloating).
I think many doctors in general are not good with vague symptoms. And if you're not dying or looking half dead then they seem to be a little laxidaisical.
I believe I have Hashi's but have not been diagnosed yet. I'm in the process. I do have muscle twitches a lot and my eye twitches at times. Not sure what it is but I'm sure it has something to do with the thyroid since the thyroid messes with your muscles anyway.
Hi Kris, I have never had twitches but I have pins and needles in my hands nearly every morning. I'm reading a book at present on Hypothyroidisn and the title is how I feel most of the time RUNNING ON EMPTY.
