| my Synthroid dilemma...any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
So I've been on Synthroid for the past 4 years as a result of thyroid cancer, always on either 150 mcg or 175 mcg. The endo always felt it was strange it took levels that high to get me suppressed (I weighed 145 then, weigh 135 now), but I realized about a year ago that was because I wasn't taking it properly (didn't wait any time after eating, etc.), now it is still suppressed (TSH on last two blood test were .06 and .02), and I've recently gotten myself in shape and gotten the body I always wanted (I was never fat per se, but now I've got a pretty kickass lean body).
The problem is that my joints in the last few months have started to chronically be very sore and a little jittery, especially in the morning. I can push through it, but for comforts sake I'd rather not just live with it, because I'm only 21! Anyway, with all that in mind, I went to the endo, who now wants to bump me down to 137 mcg. He thinks it would be good to be not SO suppressed. But my problem is that the T4 was high normal, and the T3 was mid normal, so my metabolism was functioning A-OK.
I am concerned that the dosage bump down will cause weight gain, which frankly, I would hate ANY of, even a few pounds. I know how unreasonable that sounds, but it scares me. Endo says it won't be a noticeable gain, but I read so many horror stories that I don't know exactly what to do. I feel physically semi-crummy, but I LOVE the way I look for the first time ever. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks so much,
Doug
