My dr checked my TSH and he did a thyroid ultrasound. I called and pestered my dr. and he still would not order the FT3 or FT4. I was so frustrated about that. Anyway, my thyroid ultrasound still showed multi nodular goiter and my TSH went from 1.0 to 0.7 within the past 3 months with the ranges of 0.4-5.5. I know it is difficult to tell from TSH alone, but can you give me a hint of whether I am going back to the hyper side? I have lost about 4 pounds in one week.
Does anyone know if TSH of 0.7 and antithyroglobulin of over 3,000 tells if I am going hyper? Can't get the dr to order FT4 at all. I am frustrated about that. please tell me your opinion please.
There's no way to tell. A difference between 1 and .7 is miniscule. It can fluctuate that much within just a day. The antibody count has no significance in this regard.
Do you have Graves', or are you talking about "hyper" from overmedication for hypoT?
Sounds like it's time for a new MD... or at least, to order your own FT tests from an online lab.
I have Graves and because of the antibodies, he said I also have Hashi's. I dont know if one replaces the other or if I have both. I am searching for another dr., but I cannot be seen until November. It is crazy that dr.'s wont order the Ft4 for me. I probably made them mad by bugging them about it.
They did tell me that I was in menopause. I have had a hysterectomy. lol I wonder if that means that I need more hormone. Anyway, have trouble getting answers.
Thanks for the explanation of your situation. Graves' and Hashi's... ugh. Poor you!
I looked back at one of your other posts and saw that MG helped explain a lot for you. I don't have the same kind of access to information as she seems to, so I'm sorry I can't help much for such a complicated condition. And MG must be having a busy summer, because she hasn't been around much lately.
Certainly, if you have lost so much weight in a week for an otherwise unexplainable reason, and if you have any other hyper symptoms - like tremor, fast bowels, increased anxiety, muscle tension, etc - you should see your doctor and insist he test your levels.
Anyway, I'm sorry I can't help any more than that, and I do wish you the best in getting this sorted out.
