Just got the results of my biopsy and the nodule is benign! Now what happens though if it keeps getting bigger? Do they still take it out?

Good for you Tigger6! That is indeed great news. I am happy for you. As for what to do if it keeps getting bigger.....well, I suppose one option would be to remove it and part of the thyroid gland.
I'm sure some of the more knowlegeable ones on board here can give you a better answer.

I started out with one nodule and more had grown. But I think it's an individual thing. That could happen or you could just stay with one. I'm so glad it's benign yay!!

Congrats on your good news...what a relief! As far as the nodule growing more? I think they/you will need to keep monitoring it. If it does keep growing then I suppose there are two alternatives...either take medication to try to shrink it or have it surgically removed. But that is a bridge you can cross later...for now the biopsy is done and everything looks good!

The third option if it is primarily cystic is to have a percutaneous ethanol injection which will shrink it and prevent reoccurance. Do a little research on PEI for thyroid and you'll get plenty of info.
