I haven't posted here in quite awhile... I just recently had a TSH done ....
2.7 range 0.30 - 4.2
I have gained 50 pounds since last september.... and i'm still having problems with sugar crashes.... I find its on the high side for a couple hours (2) after eating and then crashes....
i'm still not getting any help from my dr. he doesn't even want me in for follow up... some of my other blood work was out of range as well
low potassium and sodium was on the lower side aswell.... and i'm still retaining major fluid... i have pitting edema in my legs that use to be just at night now its all day....
My advice would be to get another Doctor. But get a copy of you're records FIRST.
you've had significant weight gain. And have what is called (i believe) a sub-clinical case of Hypo-thy. With sub-c hypo, your TSH isn't elevated much, while your FREE t3 & t4's are in the bottom end of the normal range.
Go to another Doctor and get them to test your FREE's. And go from there.
when hypo, it is hard for blood sugar maintenance. mine is better than it used to be, but still not great. it is definitely better to eat fats and proteins and full grains and veggies, very much like a diabetic diet i suppose. at least stay away from sugary/starchy stuff until you've gotten some of the good stuff digesting first. if i eat the wrong stuff on an empty stomach, my heart rate goes way up, i get tired and uncomfortable. not sure if thats what you are experiencing.
it does seem like you need a new doctor. i'd shop around if i were you.
