Re: nurse read results wrong im hypothyroid

Wow. You went from hyper to hypo fast! That was kind of a 'big' mistake. But I guess I can understand the nurses confusion. My doctors office called and told me the same thing at first. My reading for tsh was low, so she said I was hypo at first and then corrected herself and said I was hyper. You would think hyper would mean high tsh readings, but it doesn't.
I dont and never have had a lumpish feeling in my neck, even with a large thyroid. Sorry can't help ya there.

Re: nurse read results wrong im hypothyroid

That lump in the throat sensation comes from inflammation of the thyroid gland. It can happen even when the gland remains normal sized. I had that sensation periodically for well over 5 years or so, before I realized I was hypothyroid. It's odd how it gets better when you eat, isn't it? Happened to me, too. As soon as I stopped swallowing, that "lump" came right back. I found that chewing gum between meals helped a little.

I'm happy to say that the lump has been gone since my dose was optimized. Don't miss it a-tall.
