I went for a full physical and my doctor is sending me to a lab for a chest x-ray. He said it was a 'routine screening' but I wondered if there are any reasons in particular why he would find it necessary to send me for one. Thanks.
Most chest x-ray's check for pulmonary problems. If your physical is for a job then it would be necessary to find out if you have any health conditions that you're not aware of. Pneumonia, is the most common. If you have a smoking history then C.O.P.D and emphysema are others. Just making sure your health will last for the long run.
I personally refuse chest x-rays unless it is a very good reason for it. I'm concerned about the radiation particularly concerning the breasts. I'm trying to keep track of the radiation I receive. There is a certain amount that is relatively safe per year.
Make sure you get the shield for your thyroid. Also, when you go to the dentist do the same. Fam
I had a chest CT due to Hashi Dx last year. Due to shortness of breath, were looking for fibroids. Apparently this is common for Hashi.
