If there are hurthle cells on one side, they usually remove the entire thyroid, because they do spread, and sometimes mutate to a cancer that is a little tougher to treat.
Luckily, yours was benign. It could be that those other nodules have hurthle cells, and it could be something else, these nodules pop up with all sorts of things....let us know how it turns out.....
