Talking tt last tuesday!!!

Hi everybody, I'm back, had my surgery last tuesday, went ok but boy I thought it was going to be easy for me, I guess I'm not good with anesthesia, got sick in the recovery room, very very out of it because they gave me drugs to ease my pain so when I was back in my room it was 5pm and they took me to the operating room 12.45 so I guess it took a while to get me back in shape
My surgeon told me the majority of his patients were home the next day, well, not me!!! my calcium levels drop so they kept me there till thursday around 5pm when I was finally released. They poked me every 8 hours to check my calcium levels, sleeping was bad, my back hurts, my neck hurts, incision hurts, and it was very very depressing to see the rest of the ladies that had surgery the same day I did going home the very next morning and I was the only one staying in that unit, many ladies kept coming and going those 2 days as I was left there, very depressing, couldn't stop crying, felt like I was not going to be back home ever!!! well I guess the whole experience for me was not good, I envy all the people in this board that had an easier time with it, I'm glad though that I did it, no more thyroid gland for me!!!! that sucker is gone!!!!!!!
As soon as I got home my surgeon call me with the pathology report, it was not cancerous, so I'm very happy, sore but happy!!!! They put me now in levoxyl 125 mcg, I was in 88mcg, although I didn't take it the day of the surgery and was forbid to take it until my pathology report was back clean.
So now my incision looks good, no stitches, no bandage, no drain. I clean it with peroxide even though my doctor told me it was not needed, just to shower and wash it with soap and water, I'm not ready for that yet, I guess I'm waiting for it to look more dry so I can have the courage to wet it when I shower, I'm such a chicken!!!!
Now I have to see my endo next 16th and the surgeon the next day for follow up but I feel better, not depressed since I got home, the hospital really got me down, I didn't want to spend any more days there!

Smile Re: tt last tuesday!!!

I'm so glad to hear you are on the road to recovery! Sorry however to hear that your hospital stay was extended that I'm sure was not much fun. Good news on the path report...

Just make sure you take care of yourself. Don't over do, even if you are feeling supercharged. That can come back and set you back a few days. Make sure you are also turning your head lots through out the day so you do not get stiff. Everyday will get better....

Thanks for letting us know how things went and take care ....
Rhonda

Re: tt last tuesday!!!

Sorry you were in the hospital all that extra time, but being home is great.

The shower is the best part, soothing warm water, made everything feel sooo much better......especially the neck...

Re: tt last tuesday!!!

I'm still not having a good night sleep, can't sleep on my back feel like I'm choking and have bad nightmares but can't get on my sides either because my incision kind of hurts a little when I try that, feels really tight but looks good, like the healing is doing it's process. I can't wait to feel well again, the sleep part is hard and still my stomach is suffering from the anesthesia, other than that I'm trying to take it slowly and not worry about the house getting messy, there will plenty of time for that when I feel better.
THank you all for the good energy and thank this board that makes me realize that I'm not the one going through this, is very comforting to see so many people's inputs and opinions, very helpful in the whole process.

Re: tt last tuesday!!!

I feel so bad for you! I can totally sympathize...the anesthia did a trick on me too...I really thought I was going to implode! It took what seemed like forever before my system started to work normally. If it is any consolation for you right now...things will get better. Just focus on the positive right now and soon life will be a back to a new normal for you!

Take care...
Rhonda
