intact PTH is 122....calcium is 9.6....please help!!

intact PTH is 122....could this be perimenopausal symptom???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi!

Im concerned because my calcium is 9.6 and my PTH is 122.

I havent had a period for 2 1/2 months and I have all the symptoms of perimenopause. I even have an ache in my forearm that hasnt gone away in over a month.

I went to see the gyn and he says Im in peri. The family doctor wants me to see a neurologist to rule out anything else.

Could this high figure be a sign of perimenopause? Does it fluctuate?

Thanks for all your help. Im a neervous wreck.

By the way, Im 45.......thanks again!

I am not familiar with perimenopause but wondering if this could be parathyroid related with such a high pth. Have you had previous calcium labs where you calcium was high

No I have always had normal calcium levels. I havent been feeling too good lately and was wondering if this was part of the menopause thing.....lol

Ive always been tired though. I remember complaining about that for years.

Does the PTH flucuate?

yes pth has fluctuated in many people from what I have read. 122 is definitely high and maybe you could be an exception with the calcium in the 9s. I would maybe send dr norman an email to ask his opinion . Send him previous calcium labs and pth. He responded to me the same day.

Im going to see an endo tomorrow.

They will probably have to order blood work first before they can give me an answer. I am scheduled for an MRI soon too.

Michelle , thanks for your information. I will keep you informed.
