Re: how to strengthen your voice after thyroid surgery
I took used some advil, and just waited, because my surgeon told me that there's swelling for months after surgery, internally, so I figured when the swelling went down, it would get stronger.
After my tt, I had a voice, but I couldn't extend it, then I could extend it but couldn't sing, then suddenly, I realized, around 8-12 weeks, it was pretty much back to normal.
My friend had two surgeries (due to discovery of cancer on her first lobectomy), and she's a public speaker, and she really had no voice for several months, and then around month 3 it started returning stronger and stronger, and she says by around 5 months ago, she was close to normal, and she actually had one vocal chord paralyzed.
It's a lot of patience......you could do speech exercises, but I think resting it as much as possible is key.
