Re: Thyroid problems

What is "normal" depends on the lab that does your work, the way their equipment is caibrated, the process that they use to obtain the results, and possibly other factors.

Because of this, if you have labwork, it invariably includes not only your results, but the ranges , as well. Ask your doctor for a photocopy of the report from the lab rather than just "the results", and you'll get the sheet that tells you what you are asking.

the problem often seems to be what the Doctor thinks is NORMAL - (because they use OLD, draconian lab ranges for TSH) but the patients thinks IS NOT because of classic Hypo-thy symptoms they are having , , ,

A healthy persons TSH is around 1.0. I know my TSH was 1.23 just months prior to one enlarged, non-cancerous thy lobe being removed. Too bad my old Doc didn't bother to look at THOSE labs before deciding that 4.79 was NORMAL !! Because it really WAS NOT for *me*. And there lies the prob for most Thy patients.
