The T7 test is a useless one. The result is arrived at by doing a total T4 and a T3 uptake test at the same time. Some kind of mathematical hocus-pocus is done with those results. After all that rigamarole, what you end up with is an estimate of free T4.... When one single, correct test - the actual free T4 test - could give you a genuine, accurate free T4 level. I have seen several instances of folks having both a FT4 and a T7 test done with the same blood sample. In each case, the T7 did not reflect the actual FT4 level... proving what a bogus, dumb test it is.
If that's the way the clinic does it, though, she may not have much choice about the tests she gets.
