Can my thyroid pinch nerves in the neck?

My neck hurts on the left side. The same side that my thyroid hurts on. I cant
rotate my neck all the way on left side. It hurts bad when i go out in the cold.

Is this a thyroid problem or something else?

thanks

Re: Can my tryroid pinch nerves in the neck?

Hi.

You didnt really give much information. You said your left side of your neck hurts AND the left side of your thyroid? Do you have diagnosed thyroid problems? How can you differentiate between the left side of your neck and the left portion of your thyroid?

To answer your question. Yes, an enlarged thyroid or thyroid nodules can press on nerves in your neck and cause pain.

Re: Can my thyroid pinch nerves in the neck?

I'm no expert but the thyroid being enlarged could pinch a nerve causing the pain as in my situation. I have neck/ear pain along with an enlarged thyroid with nodules. Docs are doing blood work and biopsy. If biopsy comes back okay and all else fails, I will have the remaining portion of my thyroid removed. Keep us posted!

Re: Can my thyroid pinch nerves in the neck?

I had my thyroid removed a year ago. After the surgery I noticed my shoulder didn't hurt anymore when I lifted my arm up. I used to not be able to put my arm over my shoulder-head level without a shot of pain. It is totally gone now!
So, yes, I believe a thyroid can pinch a nerve.

Re: Can my thyroid pinch nerves in the neck?

Can you take nutrisystems to lose weight I read it has soy in most products. My doctor said it is okay, but I remember reading it inhibits synthroid absorption like calcium and iron. Do I just take it a few hours later than dose? I really need to lose weight and does it work anyone take it out there.
