Do you think I could be hypothyroid? TSH 2.44

Hi All -

For the past few months I have been experiencing worsening symptoms that include extreme fatigue, muscle and joint aches - especially in my shoulders, back and hips and for the last month i have been battling recurrent UTI infections, i got a cold etc. I am have also been experiencing intense anxiety and depression. My thyroid has been tested before and was always ok (I also have pcos which is a risk factor). In march I had some bloodowork done by my gyn (not my endo) and my TSH was 2.44. I also have a small nodule on thyroid (discovered last summer). I have to wait a few weeks to see my endo, but i am going to my internist today and I am freaking out that something is seriously wrong with me - like cancer. Last night I had such severe fatigue I could barely make it to my bed - like a really bad food coma, but worse.

I also have a rash on my upper arms.

any thoughts appreciated. thanks!

Re: Do you think I could be hypothyroid? TSH 2.44

Your TSH is about where mine always was and I'm very hypothryoid. But the only way to really tell is to get a Free T3 and Free T4 to see how many hormones are actually circulating in your system. You should also ask for the antibody tests for autoimmune thyroid disease: TPO-Ab and TG-Ab. It wouldn't hurt to check your vitamin D, B12 and ferritin while they're drawing labs too.

If your nodule is less than 1 cm it's not likely to be much. Your endo will be able to let you know more about it when he sees your report. If he's concerned he'll do a biopsy.

Let us know what your lab results are with the ranges.
