Hi all,

I was just diagnosed with hypo, but Dr. hesitated giving RX ( my levels were TSH 4.8 and Free T3 0.87) I asked again since I feel so crummy and he prescribed levo 75 mcb, which now seems to me a little high for a first dose?

Also, I take sertraline which I have read can cause an interaction with levo. I am researching a DR. who might also prescibe Armour--will that be in combination with the levo?

I am especially concerned about weight gain, since I have an issue in the first place and have gained an additional 25 pounds in the past few months (before treatment) I have just taken my second dose of levo, but if it will cause weight GAIN, I am outta there!

Any advice would be welcome!!

Levo usually does not cause weight gain. If you are going to use natural thyroid hormones you will not take it with the Levo (unless you aren't getting enough T4 with just NTH for some reason).

I don't know if there is an interaction of T4 with the other med you are taking. You should look for any listed interactions and d/c the medication if you are experiencing them.

It's very important to get your thyroid normalized. This will also help with the weight situation.

Levothyroxine isn't a "drug". It's a hormone.
The drug interaction database I checked shows no interaction between these two agents. If all possible combinations were checked, I'd be surprised if levoT showed any kind of interaction with anything else.
