The Thyroid Paradox by James Rone

I was wondering if anyone has read The Thyroid Paradox by James Rone AND/OR has gone to see him for thyroid treatment and what your thoughts are.

Re: The Thyroid Paradox by James Rone

Hi - I was thinking of buying the p/back. The author is a Medic and has hypothyroidism, and I heard there is some useful stuff on current testing regimes. Also advice for hypoTs on things to try if they feel they are getting nowhere on their current treatment.

Have you read it yourself?

Re: The Thyroid Paradox by James Rone

I've gotten through about 3/4 of the book. He is an endo and from what he says in his book he seems to be mid road as far as treatment. Meaning he realizes that "normal" labs don't mean that is what that particular patient needs, but from what he says in his book he doesn't use dessicated, but will prescribe T3 (Cytomel) if he feels the patient could use it.

I had thought about switching to Nathurethroid, but with all of the issues with the dessicated right now, I am thinking I still need to try to get optimized on my Synthroid and Cytomel.

Ok, finished the book. I think it is definitely a good read. After finishing the rest of the book, I stand corrected. From what I can gather from the book, he uses synthetics, but was willing to put a patient on Armour after not getting help with synthetics. This book is worth reading IMO.
