I have been detected with a Thyroid Nodule in the right lobe.Scan report says; well defined heterogeneous nodule( 4.0X1.9cm) in the right lobe.
FNAC says, Paucicellular aspirate, ultrasound guided FNA from nodule in right lobe of thyroid. Inadequate for opinion.
I have been advised to Repeat FNAC by next week. From past few days, I have some palpations in my right lobe. It is not very frequent but can feel it only when i sleep. Is this normal? I feel uncomfortable during my sleep, feels like being choked. Sometimes the pain goes up to my ear. I can see my neck is swollen on the right side. Am still not under any medication.
Iam also suffering from severe neck pain. I have a congenital block in vertebra 6-7. My doctor also said, neck pain may be due to thyroid nodule. It is so severe, that the pain starts radiating to my shoulders, back & even to legs.
Pl let me know, if all these symptoms are normal?? What is the best possible treatment I can undergo?
I don't know about the severe pain, but my mother in law found her nodule through vertigo, (dizziness) from a nodule, and that is a very large nodule, there might not be room in your neck for it, it may be compressing.
A nodule that large should come out. The FNA only gets a sample of cells---not all, so it's not definitive anyway, I don't see a reason to repeat it, I think it's better to just get it removed, especially since it's so large and hurting you, no reason to keep it.
Thanks Reece. But I would like to know if the nodule can come down with medication alone?? Is surgery the only option?? My doctor says there is not 100% results with medication & best possible way is to observe it for few more days. What is your take on this?
Hello. Last evening I had an appointment with one of the renowed endocrinologist. I went to see him to take a second opinion about my thyroid nodule. He examined & said that Iam nowhere near surgery & has taken my blood samples for series of tests. which includes T3,T4,TSH,FT3,FT4,THYROID ANTIBODIES,ANTI THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY, BLOOD GLUCOSE-RANDOM, LIPID PROFILE, LIVER FUNTION TEST. Based on these test reports, I may have to repeat FNAC again. I don't know, why LFT is being conducted? Anybody any idea about this?? Now Iam worried that so many series of tests are being conducted.!!! Help me plz....
Maybe they are just trying to see if it's a goiter rather than a nodule, and if you have thyroid disease?
I see you live in India, so the doctors may do things differently there. Here, a nodule that size, which would cause discomfort, would come out. Thyroid cancer (which I'm sure you do not have) does not show in blood work, so that's not what they are looking for, probably just thyroid disease.
Hi Reece. I had my appointment with my doctor last week. All the above mentioned tests are normal. Doctor said that no medication / surgery is required. Inspite of me saying that nodule is causing discomfort, he repeated the same. He said, that the nodule might go off by itself / even if it stays no need to worry. In the mean time, I have been advised by one of my family member to meet an ENT specialist & take an opinion. What say??
