Re: how long does it take for synthroid to work after surgery

Synthroid replaces the hormone T4, which needs to build in your system for a couple of weeks, and then convert to T3 which your organs in your body use. However, if you take it right after surgery, you should be okay, because you still have remaining hormone in your body leftover from your thyroid.

It takes time.

Re: how long does it take for synthroid to work after surgery

From what I have read it seems that thyroid disease can run in families especially those
with diabetic histories. My daughter is also displaying symptoms at the same age that
I started having problems. I have an appt. for her just because I don't want her to
go undiagnosed as i did and suffer needlessly for years. I wish you the best!
