Just curious if any of you know the answer to this question: Is it possible to mistake a hyper swing from Hashimoto's for a bout of subacute thyroiditis? I had subacute thyroiditis (according to my endo) for about eight months last year (hyper phase lasted about 1 to 2 months). Test results (TSH of .004, very low throid uptake scan results, etc.) were indicative of subacute, but I didn't have any sort of respiratory virus preceding the episode (nor was I pregnant, the two things that are believed to bring on subacute thyroiditis).
Since I have abnormally high levels of anti-thyroglobulin antibodies, which I now understand, from learning so much on this board (thanks, everyone!!

, means that I definitely have Hashi's, is it possible that what the doc THOUGHT was subacute was REALLY a Hashi's hyper phase? Is there any way to tell definitively?
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!!
M
