lab experts... help please...

I was left a message today with the following:

TSH: 1.2
T4 Free: 1.17
Vit D: 15

No increase in Levoxyl at this time. But they are calling in prescription Vitamin D for me since mine is so low. Dr. says lets see how we do once we get the vit D optimized and re-check all in 2 months.

What does this mean?

I like my dr. She listens to my concerns for the most part...really listens. I left my endo and went back to my GP because he wouldn't listen to me.

Will fixing the levels of Vit D help my thyroid levels? Of course it was after hours when I go the message! I am also taking B12 shots for low B12 if that is relevant.

I'm so tired of all this!

Re: lab experts... help please...

My endo wanted me to have my thyroid levels checked also when I had been on a heavy course of Vit D - so I guess it may be possible Vit D has something to do with those thyroid levels too (in my case it didn't seem to but I did start to feel so much better). But I do know Vit D has to do with the proper function of T3 receptors so getting Vit D levels right may help your HypoT symptoms. What kind of a Vit D course were you prescribed? It's best to take D3 (not that D2 they seem to prescribe over there). Taking 2000-3000 IU of D3 a day helped me a great deal.

Re: lab experts... help please...

Thanks so much for your answer. I pick up the script today so not sure if it's D2 or D3... I know she wants me to take it twice a month. I want my Free T4 to go up a bit as I feel better when it's around 1.6 or so. I don't feel hypo per se right now...at least not like I have in the past. But I do feel fatigue and headaches and muscle aches...like my knees hurt when I walk. I'm 38 but feel 58 when trying to exercise sometimes! I hope this Vitamin D helps. Why is D2 not as good as D3?

Sounds like the D2 course I've heard of. D3 would be way much more potent so IMHO you could buy some over the counter D3 and try taking it like 5000 IU a day for awhile. I too had severe weakness, dizziness, muscle aches, fatigue, swelling and problems recovering from exercise and all of that became so much better after a couple of months on D3.
