High TPO levels (antibodies) and wanting to get pregnant??

My doctor says my levels need to go down to get pregnant so my baby doesn't have a high risk of thyroid problems...

anyone dealt with this? I know when talking about high TPO antibody levels everyone always says just ignore them and let them do whatever they're going to do... you only take the test initially so you can know whether or not they are there, or whatever...

But has anyone else had a situation like mine, where you need them to go down for a reason such as wanting to have a family? I have one 18 month old girl and we want to continue our family.

Any one had a similar situation and what are you doing about it???

Oh, btw, my levels were 201 in august and are now, in april, 432, so they're not going down, they're just going up.

thanks!

What kind of doctor are you seeing? You should be either seeing a reproductive endocronologist or a high risk pregnancy specialist, to help you with your situation.

Also what is your doctor proposing to help lower your TPO levels? Are you on thyroid hormone replacement? It's more important to make sure you are not hypothyroid as a result of your Hashimoto's. This will help ensure a healthy pregnancy. Lowering antibodies is not always possible, though some have had luck with selenium suppliments.

Yes, selenium can help, it seems people with thyroid disorders are deficient in it anyway. I cut my tpo's in half after 3 months of taking 200 every day. Then after that I cut down to 100. It's worth a try!

Do a google search on antibodies and increased miscarriage risk-I'm almost positive that the antibodies make a full-term pregnance likely.
