If it means a thyroid deficiency, then the baby will be given thyroid hormone med. It is wonderful that they routinely test babies, because with long term deficiency it means cretinism, or mental sluggishness and low-growth. It is very treatable.
I suggest that you get tested yourself, to be sure you are not also deficient...thyroid problems usually run in families.
