| Re: Has anyone tried acupunture?
Hi Berri. My thyroid was removed due to thyroid cancer, and I've been seeing various alternative practitioners along with my Endo. I see an Acupuncturist regularly for treatments and herbal advice, and he's been tremendously helpful in minimizing hypothyroid and Hashi's symptoms.
I also see a Chiropractor/Homeopath intermittently. She does a hands-on treatment called glandular balancing where she holds lymph gland points for about 10 seconds each. This and her homeopathic advice resulted in relatively smooth sailing through surgery and recovery.
While I will always need to take my meds, and I see my Endo and surgeon for follow-up, I feel that my alternative care has made this process so much easier for me. I know it's been a primary aid to symptom relief (particularly when I've had medication-induced hypothyroidism for tests and scans) and I highly recommend it.
