This is one symptom of hyperthyroidism. The other symptoms are nervousness, irritability, constant feeling of being hot, increased perspiration, insomnia, fatigue, weight loss etc. It is when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone resulting in an overactive metabolism. If you find out you do have this, there is an excellent site for thyroid problems, which I have also, at " about.com " I learned everything about my hypothyroidism off there.
