To Treefrog - your poor foot!

quote:
Now I may have broken my foot in another fall...this time not due to my imbalance, but a drop in the blacktop that was impossible to be seen in the dark.

I have blood settled internally along the side of my foot, clear around my toes

So sorry to hear about your foot injury, TF, but I'm glad it's not broken. There are a few holistic things you can do to speed the healing process if you want. I'm sure they told you to ice the injury for a couple of days to minimize the swelling. That's the best first step.

You can also put Arnica Montana (cream or gel) on your foot 2-3 times a day for the bruising and pain.

You can take Arnica Montana 30c homeopathic pills to address the trauma of the injury. (Tap one pill into the cap and place under your tongue [b]without touching the pill[b], dissolve under the tongue, do not eat or drink 10 minutes before or after.) For your acute injury, take one dose, a second dose 10 minutes later, then a 3rd dose 1 hour later. After these initial trauma doses, take additional doses should be 3 times a day (morning, afternoon, night) for about 3 days.

Once the swelling goes down and the bruising is not developing (about 3 days), you can treat the ligaments with a castor oil heat wrap. You can buy cold-pressed, organic castor oil at a health food store (along with the Arnica). Pour some onto a cotton cloth (piece of T-shirt works great) and wrap your foot in the cloth. Then wrap the cloth with plastic wrap (to keep things clean), and wrap the plastic with an electric heating pad. Heat no longer than 10-15 minutes, 3 times a day. You can store the cloth and the plastic wrap in the refrigerator so you just add to it.

I hope you feel better soon! These treatments (particularly the castor oil) help me so much with things like carpal tunnel and ligament strain. Oh yeah, and that time that I dropped the vacuum on the top of my foot about 2 weeks after twisting that ankle when slipping on some ice....

Do something buffet style this weekend, so your guests can fend for themselves.

Re: To Treefrog - your poor foot!

Thanks, Lori.

Artful, I tried the castor oil heat wrap on my foot...very awkward I might add, trying to keep oil off the floor and me, and get it wrapped. My son helped or I would have been at a loss. It did feel better. I will do it again.

Most everything is ready for tomarrow, except the food. I have let go of my big plans and will be reasonable and let others help. Then I have no plans again before Christmas, except to stay off my feet.
Thanks for all the kind and supportive words! TF

Re: To Treefrog - your poor foot!

Hi Treefrog. I'm so glad that the castor oil wrap helped you. It is terribly awkward but so great.

How was your weekend party? I hope your guests were reasonable. Hosted the same at our place for my husband's family, just a few hours after the departure of my parents (visiting from L.A.). EVERYTHING was store-bought here, but it worked out.

I think you mentioned in another post that you haven't noticed much help from the Maca. Does a slight increase in dose (1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon) make a difference? I was really hoping it would alleviate some of your hypo symptoms -- it's helped my moods so much.

Re: To Treefrog - your poor foot!

Hi ArtfulD ,
Good to read your message!

I was taking a rounded teaspoon of Maca every day, sprinkled on toast. My mood already was not bad, before taking it. I was not depressed or negative...until now, I am in a really crappy mood with this constant pain! It keeps me awake or I have to be drugged with Motrin and aspirin. As soon as it wears off enough I wake up. Then I feel drugged from the Motrin. I really dislike any drug!

I have to take at least 600mg of Motrin and two aspirin to get rid of the pain. I think I am going to have to up it to 800mg. My foot hurts so bad today, and my knee too. My hand began hurting two days after the fall, with pain shooting up my arm. It is hard to believe that nothing is broken the way it feels.

The dinner went very well. I kept it very simple, and everyone was very happy together. I hope your health survived your entertaining!

Anyway, I will survive this, too. I am heading for bed and some pain relief, now.

Take care and thanks for asking about me. I am having a hard time thinking beyond myself, right now...poor me! love, TF
