thyriod concerns

I have been on synthriod for about 5 years and I have been rechecked every 6 months my thyriod is underactive.
In the past month my hair is falling out I have notice it more and more every day. What does this mean with a underactive thyriod? What should I do? Thanks

Re: thyriod concerns

Chances are that you need a dosage increase, but without knowing what your blood tests (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4) it is hard to give you a good answer. Can you post that information?

There is also a chance that it isn't related to your thyroid at all if you are anemic or bordering on it. Have your FERRITIN level checked. Anything less than 50 on this test and you are likely to be losing hair as well.

Hang in there and welcome aboard
