can thyroid probs cause swallowing problems?

hi all im new here im 31 ive had a swallowing problem for a fair few months now and a few weeks ago i noticed a lump in my throat, i went to the docs and they said its a enlarged thyroid ive had bloods taken and get results monday and got to have a scan awaiting appointment ive had high anxiety for 16yrs and im soo scared, sometimes it feels like i have a lump within my throat and makes it hard to swallow im also suffering from loads of indigestion, plz could someone out there help! xx

Absolutely. That was one of my many complaints. I had my thyroid removed becuase it was enlarged and contained a mass. So definetly.

i had my blood results 2day my tsh was 1.1 with no furthur action im so concerned i can hardly swallow now and it feels like i have loads of indegestion is it true the tsh isn't the best test to do? im awaiting a scan will that show even if its just over or under active? x

Your thyroid is swollen thats why its hard for you to swallow. You need to be on meds to get it regulated. Synthetic or natural....but you have a thyroid problem that needs to be treated.

they have just left me pending with testing hun should i go back to the docs can they give me things to hel regardless on awaiting testing, i cant eat very well no-more got constant lump in throat and feelings of indigestion can they hep me now?

When is your next appt? I would go back in and request further testing to be done. At least then you will know how far off your thyroid actually is and they can start treatment.

they have done no furthur action on my bloodwork but ive now got to await an appointment for my scan which ive been told can take weeks but cant cope with this unconfortable feeling in my throat its horrid!
