Just got back from getting some test results and it appears that running alonside my other antibody problems I have really high thyroid antibodies, the usual parameters are 0-34 but my result came back as 441......yep four hundred and forty one.
My other antibody result is also well off of the chart.
My question is that last year my TSH (is that right) was between 2.2-3 but today it has come back at 7.4, this could be the multiple antihistamine medication and steroids or could be the antibodies that are effecting my levels???
Your high antibodies mean you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis which is the most common cause for hypothyrodism. A TSH that high is an indication of hypoT. You need to have further tests, FT4 at least. Are you having any symptoms?
Sarah--I agree with Finnmaid, it appears that you have hashimoto's and need treatment.
Don't get too stressed about a level of 444 as"very high antibodies". My tpo antibodies were over 2000 on diagnosis, and with treatment over several years they do keep going lower but that doesn't change the fact that I have hashimoto's . I have read of other's on this board also with tpo antibodies over 2000...those are numbers that I would say are very elevated.
I was really bothered by having such high antibodies but...in the final analysis hashimoto's is hashimoto's and treatment is needed.
Thanks guys for your replies. The reason I asked about the antibodies is because I am off the chart on c1q antibodies too which indicate other auto immune diseases. I have lost a lot of weight even though my TSH indicates underactive thyroid but my other systems are more severe with breathing difficulties, unable to walk very far because of this no more than 20m without help, angiodeoma, urtecaria, closure of airways and ever increasing and differing antibodies. SLE has been mentioned but not diagnosed.
Should I now be pushing for a secondary diagnosis???? As I am currently diagnosed with c1q urtecaria vasculitus with angiodeoma. To be honest we don't know what to do as over night in Sept I went from a very busy working mum to someone who cannot leave the house, drive or carry out ordinary things, and about 28lbs lighter in 10 days, though 7lbs have gone back on.
We are at a complete loss as seem the consultants because of the c1q antibody levels
thanks for listening
Sarah
You seem to have more than one issue going on, and there isn't one fix for them all. But it's clear that you absolutely do need thyroid replacement. That's a starting point from which to begin toward figuring out the rest of your problems.
Sarah--I feel for you. I do not know the significance of c1Q antibodies...though I did a little looking around and see some connection to sle. As to the c1q antibodies it may be very helpful for you to go to a lupus board and ask about your antibodies as you did here with the tpo antibodies.
With the c1q antibodies , I would think your dr. would do a complete work up for various autoimmune conditions including sle. I know I had this done...what I remember now is that they looked at various antibodies and something called ANA titres. I am sure that at a lupus board you could get more information on your next step.
As others have suggested , get started on your thyroid treatment , at least that will be of some help as you sort through your other issues. Untreated hypothyroid can cause so many symptoms and make you feel just horrible. So getting started on treatment is important.
Also as my endo has told me it is critical when you have an autoimmune disease to be sure to take special care of yourself not to get run down and all stressed out. At this time, when no doubt you are under a great deal of stress, try to do the basic things that we sometimes are not so good at..
get plenty of sleep
try to eat well...plenty of fruits and vegetables
get daily exercise -to the extent possible
get daily relaxation-guided imagery, meditation, prayer (whatever works for you)
Whatever you can do to support your health will be beneficial for WHATEVER you have going on.
It is not clear from your posts....did the dr. start you on thyroid treatment??
