Does your surgeon have a Physicians assistant or a partner you can talk to? Or can you take a visit to your regular doctor so they can check the wound for your peace of mind?
Did you have a drain? My surgeon said he used it because it was less likely to have that much blood build up----maybe if you did you needed it longer.
I would want to get some attention because you have a real serious concern. I didn't have a hematoma, I did have an infection post op, when I went to my follow up the area was burning to the touch, and i went on antibiotic and it was fine, but I was glad to talk to the surgeon about it.
I really feel after care is lacking in these situations, and we all don't know what's normal and what's not, and it's good to speak to a professional and ease your fears. Your surgeon is an experienced professional and likely absolutely right that this will be absorbed over time and will go down, but you need someone you can talk further about it with.
