I also have Hashimoto and when my levels are low I have this toxic bitter metallic taste in my mouth feels like something is poisoning me.
Went away with treatment so don't worry.
Maybe you should have your levels checked.

Aberrant taste can be a definite hypothyroid sign. My mother had a salty taste in her mouth for years before getting a diagnosis.
With all due respect, why aren't you pushing your MD for treatment? "Watching it" is like watching a grease fire on the stove without calling the fire department. If you have symptoms in addition to the metallic taste, you should be treating that Hashi's... now.

I've had this too!!! But the odd thing is my Dr seems to think I may be becoming hyper .. she did say maybe my levels could be going back and forth. i didn't mention the metal taste in my mouth since it has only happened a few times and more recently and I didn't relate it to being a problem with my thyroid!
I think that is what I'm doing also, going back and forth. Haven't had the metal taste again. Feeling pretty good right now, but do find that can change week to week. This forum sure helps to try and understand our Thyroid problems. Thanks again for all the responses.
hah.. well i'm just glad you posted this. Cause I'm like *** did i eat??? yuck.. it tasted horrible. And I don't have any fillings. Do you ever get a very sweet taste in your mouth too? I've gotten that randomly also.
