Smelling smoke

Does anyone else smell smoke when no one is smoking? Sometimes it smells like wood smoke. Someone thought it was a thyroid issue. I am having new bloodwork done tomorrow as the doctor said last month my level was a little low. Thanks

Re: Smelling smoke

Yes! I too have had that, more of a burning smell though. Then I started smelling a "chemical" type smell. My thyroid is all normal, but I have two nodules - not sure I'd they are related at all, as I haven't mentioned to my doctor. I also started having trembling in my hands (my husband first noticed it) and I've noticed changes in my blood pressure and heart rate. The shaking has gotten quite bad at times now, but it isn't constant. Now idea if they are related to anything or not - but would be interested in hearing what your doctor says

Re: Smelling smoke

No but there are times when I smell like a burning smell in my nose. I don't know what it is but it unnerves me and then it goes away. Then it'll come back a long time later. I have no idea what it is.

Re: Smelling smoke

Does this only happen to a person not smoking?

Re: Smelling smoke

Doctor said my blood test was good and he did not want to up my meds yet. Next test is in 2 months. The smell has subsided, thank goodness.

Re: Smelling smoke

Jen, I was all over Google checking on this strange smoke smelling thing and I did find a reference to Ambien which I take every night to sleep. I only take 5 mg, but I read how to wean myself off and it has been 4 days cutting back and the smoke smell is gone.......so perhaps it was the Ambien. Mind boggling to say the least.
