My Reverse T3 tests came back, my ratio was 8. Dr. said it should have been 20 or above. So she prescribed Cytomel. I started with 1/2 of 25 mcg pill for first week, then another half at lunch. Now she's bumped me up to 25 mcg morning, noon, and night and says i can increase that to 50 mcg three times a day. Is that too much? At this point, i am still tired, foggy, and cold. So maybe i could handle more?
Are you taking Synthroid or other levothyroxine product too?
Are you seeing a medical doctor or some type of naturopath/alternative doctor?
One hundred-fifty mcgs a day is a LOT of Cytomel. A truly HUGE amount.
If you've just begun treatment, it would be dangerous folly to try taking that much this soon, IMO. Other than that, I can't comment much on the method except to say that T3-only thyroid treatment is unconventional.
it's an internal medicine Dr. They're one of the few in my area to do the reverse t 3 test. My TSH was normal.
Also, I'm having headache and body aches since starting the cytomel. Is that a side effect?
