Re: High TPO THOUGH normal thyroid

Can you please post reference ranges for your labs Your TSH is a bit on the high side no matter what the range so that would indicate hypothyroidism (which is usually caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis that's indicated by those high Abs). Do you have any symptoms that could be thyroid related?

Re: High TPO THOUGH normal thyroid

I agree with Finnmaid. Please post your lab ranges as that will help everyone that will want to give you a response. Your TSH is a bit high. Anything over 3.0 is high. My last lab report showed my TSH at 3.9 and my TPO was 439. My T3 & T4 were in range, but on the very low side. I have felt rotten for a year now and was finally diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease. Your TPO would indicate you may have Hashi's as well.
I went to a natual doctor and we made the decision to put me on a gluten free diet and I am taking Thytrophin instead of any thyroid replacement hormones. I tried the hormones and it just gave me hyperthyroid symptoms. I don't think my thyroid has been totally destroyed yet and I may not need the replacement therapy just yet. Hashi's is an autoimmune disease that attacks your thyroid. In my case, I am gluten intolerant and that's what probably caused the Hashi's.

Re: High TPO THOUGH normal thyroid

Thank you susieq0726 and finnmaid for replying
Reference range for TSH is.35 to 5.50microIu/ml

For T3 is 74.71 ng/dl
And T4 is 4.5to 12.6 microg/dl

My cortisol morning tests result is 24.93 ug/dl range is 4.3 to22.4
Evening cortisol is 8.11 reference range is3 to 16.6
(I am not sure about the evening results as I ate before the test as I didn't know that it had to be fasting )
The symptoms which I have are excessive greying and loss of hair
Weight gain specially around tummy
Pigmentation on lips . On some small areas of my arms and legs the hair growth has also stopped.
anxiety and depression are also the symptoms for which I consulted the doctor
I am getting really confused about what disease I have
Kindly help

Re: High TPO THOUGH normal thyroid

There may be something up with your adrenals (that can affect your thyroid function too), I'm not an expert but maybe you need further testing in that area before addressing your thyroid issue.

Those "Ts" you had tested are obviously total Ts when it would be better if your had FREE Ts tested that would tell you how much of thyroid hormones you have available for use (total Ts also measure the amount of hormone that's "out of use").

Re: High TPO THOUGH normal thyroid

Depression and anxiety are both symptoms of Hashimoto's. I suffered from both of these as well and all the medical doc wanted to do was push anti anxiety meds and antidepressents on me - Before he even knew what was causing it. This is why I looked for another doctor. I did take the anti anxiety med (Ativan) to get me through the rough patches until the gluten free diet and Thytrophin started to work, and it's been awhile since I have had to take it.
With thyroid and adrenal issues, it's sometimes very hard to find a doctor that knows what they are doing. You need to find one that LISTENS to you and how YOU are feeling. They also need to run the right tests. I found that a naturalpath doc was the way to go for me.
