Freezer Storage of NTH?

Has anyone here had any problems with storing their natural thyroid (Armour, Erfa, etc.) in the freezer?

I didn't check my mailbox on the hottest day of the year, and of course that was the day that my thyroid arrived. The bottles were warm to the touch when I got my mail the next morning.

I've placed them in the freezer hoping that would preserve them and offset any degradation from the heat. I remember reading on these boards that it is OK to store natural thyroid in the freezer, but I can't find that post.

I'd love to hear from anyone who buys their thyroid in bulk and then stores it in the freezer.

Thanks so much!

Re: Freezer Storage of NTH?

I don't think you read that here.

Natural thyroid should not be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Condensation forms, which affects potency. Store it at room temperature: 59 to 86 deg F, in a dry place away from direct light. Avoid bathroom storage. If you buy larger supplies - 90 days or more - it may be wise to open that bottle as few times as possible. Say... Transfer a month's supply to a smaller bottle, and then fill a pill box with a 1 or 2-week supply from that. Exposing the larger supply to air on a daily basis by removing one pill at a time is probably not a good idea.

No doubt that hot mailbox did it no favors, but it will probably be okay. If after a month or 6 weeks, you find symptoms returning, it might be a good idea to have labs run to check for a problem with your med.
