question about swelling after surgery

I had my right lobe removed on 7/6 so today is 2 weeks after surgery. This afternoon I saw my surgeon but after waiting an hour and feeling as if I would pass out from exhaustion I was not too talkative.
Anyway, I have a sort of lump for lack of a better word, along the incision. He said it had some fluid in it and was also still just swollen from the surgery trauma. He acted as if it was no big deal and said that if it DID become bigger and cause problems they could draw off some fluid with a needle but it looked fine to him right now.
I am still sleeping in a reclyned sitting position to reduce swelling. And I have been using ice but he did not think that would help any.
It is causing me a bit of anxiety (of course being hypo is not helping with the anxiety) so....I was hoping someone here could tell me is when this swelling will start to DECREASE and what if anything you did to help reduce the size of YOUR lump (if you had one).

Re: question about swelling after surgery

It could be outside the time window where ice can help. I didn't have much of a lump or external inflammation (I did have a mild infection though).

I have a feeling, the larger it is, the longer it takes----but it really should go away over time on it's own. You can also try natural healing things---eat pineapple (the bromide helps healing) and drink lemon in water, that is a diuretic--people use those after all sorts of surgeries.

Hope you heal quickly!
