| | Took Radioactive Iodine Today
Dose - 15.3 mci of I -131. $1500+.
Prednisone - 40mg 2xday for a week, 2x day again in 3 weeks.
Still have yet to figure out a $277 charge for a "study" when I took 1
small pill and that was it. Hospitals are a racket. Nobody had a clue
what it was for. No insurance so I questioned it. I also ain't paying
since I borrowed the down payment from a friend, am unemployed
and broke. I'm bankrupt so don't care. They've treated me like crap
anyway. Charity care is a joke at a for-profit hospital. None I mean.
No non-profits here except 100 miles or more away.
Diagnosis - Hyperthyroid with toxic goiters. No nodules.
Thyroid storm causing Congestive Heart Failure.
No cancer since goiters so hot.
It should take at least 8-12 weeks to see results. So far, no loss of taste, neck swelling, or anything really. Tired but that's normal due to the CHF. Had a panic attack after the dose in the car driving. Hyperthyroid nerves. I just took strong radiation (2000 or 7000 or something). If the CHF goes away soon, I'll try and go to work. Fat chance with my credit shot and 16% unemployment locally.
Well, so far I've beat an incompetent doc who diagnosed me with death or surgery, which I didn't need and any idiot could tell me I didn't, and bad CHF in a hellish living environment. Not to mention that said hospital kicked me out with a 2000 BNP and a ticking time bomb of a heart attack or stroke. Nice, huh? My new doc is the best endo in town treating me for free. I'm very thankful to him and another who did my blood tests and got me into the endo gratis. If you're poor, there are some awesome docs out there. Tough to find. Took 3 years to get help. Wow! I've lived through almost everything in my life.
Thanks to the one's answering my questions here. I'll post progress day by day in hopes it helps someone.
I really wish I could offer advice on how to get help when poor and/or broke and can't work that totally works. Keep trying. Go to the offices of big shot docs and ask. I did and got an endo gratis. Write a letter to them. Some do things for poor people, but don't advertise it for a reason.
