I am a healthy 23 year old male and the other day noticed a lump on my throat above my adam's apple and slightly to my right side. It is probably a little over a centimeter in diameter and other than slight dull pain when I push on it, it is unnoticeable. From the research I have done it seems like this could be a thyroid nodule. Is my assessment accurate? Is this something I need to see a doctor about or wait to see if it goes away? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Better to have a doctor check, it could be either your thyroid---but it seems a bit high for that, the thyroid is likely lower, or a lymph node or nothing at all just part of your normal neck, and then the doctor can help you decide if you need an ultrasound.
