Broken blood vessels in eye?

I'm wondering if anyone has problems with this. I highly doubt it's related to hypo or Hashi's (and I'm on bloodthinners, so...) but it's been getting ridiculously frequent of late. My eye doc says my eyes and pressures are healthy, my blood pressure itself is good....I'm kind of at a loss!

Re: Broken blood vessels in eye?

not uncommon with dry eyes and in that regard it can be related to hypot. How are your levels these days? did you try eyedrops/artificial tears is it helping?

I have no knowledge with regard to the bloodtinners. just saying.

Re: Broken blood vessels in eye?

Broken blood vessels in the eye can occur for many reasons. Anything that temporarily raises eye pressure, like straining or lifting something heavy can do it. The fact you are on blood thinners can do it. Capillary fragility can cause it and Vit C supplements can help with that. It is often seen in childbirth as a result of pushing during labor. So if BP is ok, you are not exophalamic (bulging eyeballs) from hyperthyroidism, I would take Vit C daily and avoid straining, lifting, etc and see if that helps.

Re: Broken blood vessels in eye?

I'll try taking some vitamin C to help. My levels are hanging around slightly above mid-range. I haven't had them checked in about a month, though. The optometrist said that it probably just didn't quite heal completely after my doozer of a red eye at the end of June, before it was re-aggravated somehow.
